Happy Monday! I was so happy that we got to end our week with a class Zoom call! It was so refreshing to see everyone and hear everyone's voices! It made me a happy teacher!
I hope this new "digital learning" is getting easier as the days go on. Please know that I understand it can be overwhelming and frustrating at times. We are working as a team to keep everything somewhat similar to previous weeks to help with routine.
As stated in Mrs. Clark's letter home this past Friday:
Don’t worry about your students regressing in school. Every single kid is in this boat and they all will be okay. When we are back in the classroom, we will all course correct and meet our students where they are. Teachers are experts at this! Parents don’t pick fights with your child because they don’t want to do math. Don’t fuss at your kids for not following the schedule. Don’t mandate 2 hours of learning time if they are resisting it! If I can leave you with one thing, it’s this: At the end of all of this, your child’s mental health will be more important than their academic skills. And how they felt during this time will stay with them long after the memory of what they did during those 4 or more weeks is long gone. So, keep that in mind every single day!
Parents, you’ve got this! We believe in you! Please remember that your child’s mental & physical health and YOUR mental & physical health is what is most important always, but especially now. And just a reminder again that at East Side, we are not focused on work completion nor focused on providing grades during this time.
