This week in our classroom...
READING WORKSHOP: We will be finishing up our book club books. I will be working with students to complete Columbia Assessments and obtain their independent reading level.
WRITING WORKSHOP: We will finish up our opinion essays Dyamonde Daniel and Opal. Which character is the better problem solver? We will also be starting our March Madness Test Prep groups during writing time on Monday and Tuesday. Make sure to ask your child whose team they’re on!
GRAMMAR/ORTON GILLINGHAM: We will be reviewing all our grammar standards from this quarter.
SOCIAL STUDIES: We will finish up our unit with an in class project on the explorers.
MATH: We will wrap up 3rd quarter with a heavy focus on 2-step word problems involving all four operations. This is something we’ve worked on throughout the quarter, but we will dive deep into more practice this week and conclude with a test.
Recycle Roundtable
"What kind of food containers can go into my recycling bin?” “Can metal lids from glass jars by recycled?” “Why can’t glass go in the recycle bin anymore?” Have you had these questions? Want to get the answers? The Environmental Education Committee (ECC) is very excited to host our first event! Join us in the Learning Commons on Friday, March 13th @ 10:00AM for a “Recycle Roundtable”. This will be an opportunity to ask any/all your recycling questions and get answers from the source! Waste Management, American Disposal and Custom Disposal will have representatives on the panel. If your trash company is not on the panel let us know and we’ll reach out to them! If you have pre-questions or would like to help with this event please email [email protected].
