To all parents at East Side: Please take a moment to take the 24 question Georgia Parent Survey. The data will be used as part of the calculation of East Side’s Climate Star Rating. Survey responses are anonymous, self-reported, and will be submitted directly to the Georgia Department of Education for analysis. Thank you in advance for completing this important survey. We had a great first week back! We got back into the routine and got busy!! I hope everyone looked over their report cards and read the comments on the back side. As stated on the purple form, please send the signed envelop back to school with the their informational writing piece. I enjoyed working with everyone during the last nine weeks and seeing so much progress! I look forward to seeing even more this nine weeks!!! If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out.
This week we will be continuing our units of study.
Reading: Unit 3 Character Studies- Because of Winn-Dixie
Writing- Persuasive/Opinion Writing
Math: Continuing Multiplication and Division & Word Problems and Finding the Missing Factor
Science/SS- Mountains and Rivers & Plant and Animal Adaptations The Regions of GA
We will be having sack lunches due to the Science Fair on Thursday. Please plan accordingly.
Students will be expected to master all multiplication facts 1-12's by the end of the nine weeks. This helps strengthen their knowledge of multiplication and division. It is an expectation that students LOG IN to IXL through the East Side website each night and practice multiplication fluency. Also, on my blog, there are websites for practice.
-As you know, your child will be taking the Georgia Milestones End of Grade Assessment this April. This test is a chance for your child to show what they know! However, this year the test will be administered online. Because of this your child needs to start practicing their typing skills as much as possible! Below I’ve linked our Computer Lab teacher’s website that has a lot of typing resources, if you are interested! Click here for typing resources
-I will submit January’s Scholastic Book Order on Friday, January 31st. Your child got a new reading level on their report cards that came home on Friday. This is a great time to celebrate and to buy new books. This is also a good time to make sure you have on level books for Milestones practice!
– East Side will be hosting a Family STEM night on January 28th from 5:30-7:30. Please join us where, as a family, you will explore a variety of hands-on STEM stations together! Note: this is not a drop-off event.
Monday folders will go home on Tuesday.
